On August 19, the national anti-earthquake and disaster relief summary and awarding ceremony was officially launched jointly by the Central Committee, the State Council, and the Central Military Commission in Xining, Qinghai province, during which heroic teams and individuals were given awards for their contribution to the earthquake relief efforts. Tian Youshan, office director of the State Taxation Bureau of Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, was awarded the honorary title of national earthquake-relied model worker.
Qian Guanlin, vice party secretary-general and deputy general director of the State Administration of Taxation, met comrade Tian Youshan following the ceremony. On behalf of the party committee of the State Administration of Taxation, Qian Guanlin expressed his congratulations and regards to Tian Youshan, and in the meanwhile, he called on all the carders and staff of the tax administration system nationwide to follow the model's footsteps and to pursuit their spirit of overcoming all the difficulties to safeguard the people's interests even at the cost of their lives, encouraging them to redouble their efforts towards more prodigious achievements in the future.
Deputy general director Qian Guanlin also paid a special visit to Yushu, studying the progress of the post-disaster construction of the tax administration system and extending his regards to the carders and working staff of the local taxation authority.
Since the Yushu earthquake on April 14 this year, Qian Guanlin noted, the tax administration authorities across the country, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee and the State Council and by giving full play to the spirit of "when disaster struck, help came from all sides", provided relief to the disaster-stricken area by dispatching a vast volume of labor force, materials, financial resources, and donations. The Party organizations at all levels from the tax administration authorities of Qinghai province with their strong leadership and all the taxation carders and staff who, with great passion, participated in the anti-earthquake and disaster relief work presented a spiritual outlook by weathering the difficulties with solidarity and concerted efforts, and played an active part in securing the smooth progress of the earthquake relief work as well as post-disaster rebuilding efforts. Qian Guanlin requested that the Qinghai taxation authority extend more care and aid to the disaster-affected area, and plan in advance for the settlement of the carders and staff for winter while stepping up efforts on post-disaster rebuilding.
